Last days of the traineeship

This is the last week of my traineeship with SNYC. In my last article I shared my experiences until 24th of October. Now I am going to share some more experiences I had during the last couple of weeks. I participated the event Re-connaissances where I helped Intermundo and SNYC in organizing the event. There I learnt about Open Space method which was applied in the conference and the focus of the conference was to promote recognition of skills gained through youth exchange programs and (youth) voluntary work. Geneva, Imp!act & the Tapori children

It’s been two weeks exactly since I arrived to Geneva. I will be doing my traineeship for one month in ATD Quart Monde which is a non-governmental international movement which main aim is to ensure the access of poor people to their rights and move towards the eradication of extreme poverty, they are currently working in over thirty countries. They work jointly with Tapori, a children worldwide network which main goal is to give all children the same opportunities, they have an office in Peru too and I’m planning to visit it as soon as I can...

One month already

It seems that time passes by like in a race and I realized that I hadn’t written enough.

We met Sara Schweingruber, who is the European Swiss delegate in the European Youth Forum. She explained us how important is for a young person to actively participate and be involved with current issues.

On Friday 14th, Rajib and I visited the Service Civil International (SCI) office in Bern. There Alexandra Strebel explained that SCI works as an umbrella organization which main activity is organizing international voluntary work camps. They have partners all over the world and have been working for over 90 years now; it’s one of the largest volunteer organizations in the world...

24 Days in Switzerland

Hello friends, I have just passed another week here in Switzerland with SNYC. In my last writing I briefly shared about the experiences of the first two weeks. Now I am sharing some more experiences untill 24th October.

On 14th October, me and Kate visited Service Civil International (SCI) in Bern. There we met Alexandra Strebel who is now working with SCI and she shared us the activities of SCI. SCI is one of the world's largest international volunteering organisations with more than ninety years of experience in coordinating international voluntary projects and they have projects in Bangladesh also...

Fonctionnement de l’école maternelle “mi pequeño universo” –“mon petit univers”
L’école maternelle dans laquelle je passe mes matinées fait partie d’un programme d’éducation non scolarisée. Le but principal de ce type de centre est de promouvoir le développement intégral de l’enfant, c’est-à-dire le respect, l’autonomie et la sécurité de l’enfant. L’école est gérée par la communauté et, dans le cas de “Mon petit univers”, l’ONG Native of Peru répond à certains besoins. L’Etat, quant à lui, procure le salaire de la maîtresse, qui s’élève à 300 soles mensuellement (env. 100 CHF). En collaboration avec les parents des élèves, elle doit faire le nécessaire pour aménager sa classe et avoir un minimum de matériel. La maîtresse est engagée pour une année scolaire et son emploi est rediscuté à la fin de chaque année...

Troisième semaine

Tremblement de terre
Vous l’avez sûrement tous lu dans les journaux. Il y a eu un tremblement de terre à 600 km à l’est de Lima. Mais les dégâts sont minimes. L’épicentre était en profondeur dans le sol. Ici, à Huaral, certaines personnes l’ont ressenti. Personnellement, je dois avouer ne pas être sûre de l’avoir perçu. Mais en fait, à priori au même moment, une souris est sortie d’un carton à l’école. Je soupçonne qu’elle soit apparue car elle a ressenti les vibrations…. Nous étions tellement occupées à la faire sortir de la salle de classe que rien d’autre n’aurait pu nous distraire!!!
