Last days of the traineeship

Rajib Islam Bangladesh,
This is the last week of my traineeship with SNYC. In my last article I shared my experiences until 24th of October. Now I am going to share some more experiences I had during the last couple of weeks. I participated the event Re-connaissances where I helped Intermundo and SNYC in organizing the event. There I learnt about Open Space method which was applied in the conference and the focus of the conference was to promote recognition of skills gained through youth exchange programs and (youth) voluntary work. I met different people from different countries there and also enjoyed slum-poetry...
After finishing that conference I directly went to Geneva to join another conference Impact: Euforia Youth Summit. I was a little bit tired but I felt recharged there in the conference being in the crowd of around 250 motivated young people who are committed to make an impact in the society. I enjoyed the time and had a lot of fun in the conference and got so many ideas from different organizations who were present in the conference.

The next three days after Impact I was with GLAJ-GE, a member organization of SNYC, as well as an umbrella organization of so many organizations in Geneva. I visited 12 organizations in these three days and came to learn interesting information about their activities.

In Geneva i also worked with EIP who are working in the Human Rights field. For them I took part in the meeting of Committee against Torture(CAT) and got some idea about how UN works and how the CAT plays important role to protect Human Rights.

I spent about 15 days in Geneva. I went to the Permanent Embassy of Bangladesh in Geneva where they welcomed me warmly. I told them about my traineeship and they appreciated my activities. We also discussed about how we can contribute in the country personally may be in a smaller scale.

This was the first time I observed Eid-ul-Azha outside my country, without my family as well. It was on 6th of November. I went to the mosque and said my prayer there. I was invited by Mr. Jashim who is working in the Bangladesh Embassy. So I went to his home and it was a nice feeling to have some food there in the manner that I am used to in my country. I also prepared some traditional food from my country in the hostel where I was living in Geneva and I celebrated the Eid day with the other boarders of the hostel from different countries.

From Geneva I went to Zurich where I visited Red Cross Youth-Zurich. Besides I took part in Cinfo event organized by the student organization KfE.

Now I am looking forward to my last event Round Table in Bern on 24th where I am going to present a project which I am planning to implement in my country.
It’s three more days to go. Then on 26th I am going to fly back to Bangladesh. It was truely a nice opportunity to take part in this traineeship. I learnt a lot of things. I met a lot of extraordinary personalities who are very much concerned about the human welfare and who also inspired me a lot to do something for the people, for the society.
While thinking of going back to my country I feel excited to meet my friends and family after two months. But I think I will also miss Switzerland and all the people I met here. I wish to be in touch always so that together we can make better changes in our life, in the society and in the world.
